Splinting with Orfit materials: Resting hand orthosis from Orfit Colors NS Gold 3.4mm
Splinting Techniques: Video 2 of 10
This video demonstrates how to make a resting hand orthosis from Orfit Colors NS Gold 3.4mm.
The objective of the resting hand orthosis is to provide a comfortable and correct resting position for the wrist, hand and fingers and to allow for healing and rest of injured structures. This type of orthosis can be used for patients following severe burns, crush injuries or fractures of the hand and fingers and also for patients with arthritis. The resting hand orthosis can also be used to minimize joint contractures, prevent overstretching of weakened muscles and hold tight flexor tendons in a position to facilitate lengthening of tissue.

Please reference the specific diagnosis and/or surgeon for the correct positioning of the wrist, fingers and thumb.
